Jin's Make-Your-Own Paper Doll Stickers

The kids like to sneak up on me whenever I'm in the craft room.

"What are you cutting, Mom?"
"Is that a new set?"
"So cute! Can you make one for me?"

Those are the usual questions that I'd get from all three of them. Yesterday was different; they said something new. As they looked over my shoulder and at my computer screen, they gasped and went....

"SOFIA!!"

"Eh? Who?", I asked.

"Mom! It's Sophia the First and that's Amber and Vivian!!".

Ohhh-kay.... LD had released the Tiny Princess collection some time ago and I don't know if it was inspired by the Disney cartoon but I was amused that the girls found an immediate connection to the design. I couldn't wait to finish the project so I can give it to them!

Using Silhouette Studio Designer Edition (v2.9.45d), this is what I came up with:

That's right, they are Paper Doll Stickers! Isn't that fun?

I printed the images on the Staples brand of sticker papers and used print-and-cut to cut them out. If you have not made stickers with your Silhouette Cameo before, click HERE to see what settings I use to kiss-cut (i.e. cutting the sticker sheet without cutting through the backing paper).

I made extra sticker sheets for the girls before realizing that they would probably need a place to stick them. So I put together a background and printed that out.

The whole thing looked so cute I could not wait to show it off to my kids!

The twins were preoccupied with their homework so I quietly gave the stickers to my 3rd Grader. She was thrilled and excitedly got down to work.

It is so fun to see her play with these stickers. She finished sticking them down on the background really quickly but it gave me so much satisfaction knowing that she really enjoyed this.

The Tiny Princess Cut Its set includes "outfits" in 6 colors but I only used 3 in this project. Seeing that my kid had enjoyed these stickers so much, I think I'll make another Paper Doll Sticker set with the other 3 colors. I wonder if any of the other Sophia the First characters wear blue, red,or green. Guess I'll find out from the kids. ;-)

  3. So adorable! I did not "recognize" the characters, either! Wouldn't it be cute to print on magnet paper, and make a background print to stick on a dollar store metal tray? I would love to see a post on how you file your paper packs, so they are easy to find and use. Thanks for the inspiration! -Jamie

  5. Jin, Would you please describe how you made the background? I am having trouble figuring out how to fill the "mounds" with patterned papers. Thank you!
